Expert Recipe Tips

  • You really need a muddling tool for this. You want to crush the leaves or fruit without destroying it. If you don’t have a muddling tool, you can use the back of a large wooden spoon as well. Place the herbs and fruits in the glass and gently twist and push on them with your muddler. You only need to bruise the mint lightly to release the fragrant oils and flavors. Once they are crushed, finish your cocktail. For harder foods like citrus fruits, you will want to muddle them separately since they require more pressure. Once they are crushed a bit, then you can combine them into the glass.
  • Want more sweetness? Add a splash of simple syrup.
  • For more carbonation, add a splash of club soda or tonic water.
  • To reduce the sweetness, add a splash of lemon juice or lime juice instead of the lemonade.
  • Instead of garnishing with mint, try a lemon wedge or a lemon slice. Or, add it to the mint! The more the merrier!
