What Is a Creme de Menthe Cocktail?

First developed by Emile Giffard in the 1800s, Creme de Menthe is made by adding mint leaves to a neutral alcohol. Since it’s inception, creme de menthe has been used for a variety of drinks, including the Grasshopper and Stinger cocktails.

For this cocktail, we’re using creme de menthe, Irish whiskey, Irish cream, and heavy cream to create a deliciously decadent cocktail that essentially tastes like an Andes mint. Mint chocolate lovers will appreciate the delicate balance of bright minty flavors combined with the richness of creams and whiskey.

  1. St. Patrick’s Day is one of my favorite holidays to cook for! I too love corned beef and cabbage, but I also love cooking all kinds of other things ranging for actual Irish-inspired foods, booze-infused foods, and then anything green or rainbow colored. I’m having people over for dinner tomorrow to celebrate pi(e) day/early St. Patrick’s Day so I will be making my usual slow cooker corned beef (with excess for leftovers) and then a pie or two.

  2. Dear Kita, what a beautiful drink! I love the sound of that pot pie too…looking forward to seeing that soon.

I usually prepare the traditional corned beef and potatoes. Although, what I love about that are all the leftovers. They make the best melted cheese sandwiches…I really look forward to that. Corned beef is like turkey for me. I only have it once a year, so it is always a special treat.

Have a wonderful Sunday dear. xo, Catherine
